The Moving Mind

We usually treat waiting as something to get rid of quickly. (Quite ironic actually). However, a peculiar mental state activates when we can do nothing but wait.

Think of an airport lounge, a quiet station, or a hallway. Your brain will focus its full capacity to bring you to a familiar pattern that feels safe to it, pushing you to find familiar ways to β€œkill” the time – checking screens, fixing your hair, removing a sticker from a surface…

β€œIf you hold on just a little longer, resist touching anything, and simply wait, the mind starts to adjust. Without constant input, attention turns inward.”

Thoughts that are usually pushed away begin to surface. Waiting becomes more revealing. You are very close to stillness; if you allow it.

Let the thoughts be. Do not object to them, do not resist them, do not push them away. And most importantly, do not believe every negative one. Let them pass.

There is nothing to fear in their passing. A cleaner and steadier state of mind is going to embrace you internally once they do.
